I wanted to share the article below about our efforts to impose a moratorium on fracking in California.
California has not yet finished its fracking regulations, but this controversial oil extraction process continues, even in some environmentally sensitive areas. That’s why I have joined the Sierra Club, 350.org, CREDO Action, California League of Conservation Voters and other environmental leaders in calling for an immediate moratorium on fracking in California. Fracking needs a “time out," to ensure that our land and water are kept safe.
Last year was an important time for environmental protection. We passed legislation supporting infrastructure for electric cars, expanding efforts to fight auto emissions, increasing access to clean and affordable renewable energy, prohibiting the use of lead bullets in hunting, increasing funding for coastal protection and much more.
I am honored that the California League of Conservation Voters, which has been front and center in many of these environmental successes, has recently endorsed my re-election.
With your help, we can do even more in 2014. Please join us in our fight to protect our treasured natural resources.
All the best,
PS. Please join us February 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Albert J. Boro Community Center at Pickleweed Park, San Rafael. It's my official campaign kick off, and we'll have food, drinks, games for the kids, and more.
