Dear Friends,
This is a message filled with gratitude. So many of you stepped up immediately to support my candidacy for County Supervisor when we learned there would be an open seat. It was a campaign I had not anticipated and I’m grateful for all who encouraged me to run.
Marin is a special place. I’ve cherished raising my family here. Representing our community on the San Rafael City Council and then for a decade in the State Legislature was an opportunity for public service I will forever cherish, and both an honor and a gift in my life.
Over the summer, I’ve had more time to consider serving on the Board of Supervisors and even more intensely weigh it after the passing of my mother earlier this month. I’m going to take a pause on electoral politics for now.
Please know that I will continue to be a force for good in our community and that I am here to help on difficult issues whether it’s mental health and social services, fire protection, or the vexing but solvable challenge of flood prevention. I will always be here for Marin. I love this place so much.
