Abolishing the Death Penalty

California’s death penalty is a failed relic of a failed criminal justice system. It does not deter serious crime and has proven to be an expensive and flawed exercise in justice. Marc has proposed a Constitutional Amendment, ACA 12, to end the death penalty in California once and for all.

While Governor Gavin Newsom’s moratorium will temporarily halt executions in California, now is the time for the Legislature and the voters of the state to end the failed death penalty once and for all. A statewide coalition of lawmakers and leaders have come together in support of Marc’s Constitutional Amendment, ACA 12, which will officially abolish the death penalty in California for good.

“Now is the time for the Legislature and the voters of the state to end the failed death penalty once and for all by supporting ACA 12,” said Assemblymember Marc Levine, “This is a conversation that must include all Californians.”
